Anderson Kill announced today that Anna M. Piazza, a New York-based attorney and member of the firm's Insurance Recovery Group, has been named a shareholder.

Ms. Piazza’s practice concentrates in insurance coverage litigation with an emphasis on commercial general liability insurance and property insurance, exclusively on behalf of policyholders. Ms. Piazza has represented food industry companies, machinery and other product manufacturers, property owners, municipalities, developers, and financial institutions. She has litigated insurance coverage matters in state and federal courts involving construction defect, food contamination, first party property losses, and broker malpractice. She is also a member of the firm's Women's Network.

Representative clients include a major homebuilder seeking to enforce its insurance company's duty to defend a construction defects suit; a Chinese Drywall Trust that was party to a global settlement including insurance companies that had sought to have themselves removed from the case; a municipality that obtained coverage up to policy limits when settling a wrongful conviction suit in a murder case; and a food supplier to the military that obtained insurance coverage for costs incurred in a food product recall.

Prior to joining Anderson Kill, Ms. Piazza worked at a New England-based law firm, where her practice focused on complex commercial, real estate, environmental, and health care litigation. Previously, she served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Michael A. Silverstein of the Rhode Island Superior Court, Business Calendar.

Ms. Piazza holds a J.D. from Boston University School of Law and a B.A. cum laude from Dartmouth College.
