Anderson Kill announces that Justice Ethan Greenberg, an acting New York State Supreme Court Justice (Ret.), has joined the firm as a shareholder in the firm’s New York office. He will concentrate his practice in commercial litigation, white collar defense and investigations.

As a Supreme Court Justice in Bronx County, Judge Greenberg presided over more than one hundred trials, administered calendar and motion parts, conducted hearings and supervised grand juries. He also received specialized training and assignments for domestic violence cases. Previously, Judge Greenberg was a Criminal Court Judge with the New York City Criminal Court.

Before joining the judiciary, Judge Greenberg was a partner at a national law firm based in New York, where he conducted civil and criminal litigation in federal and state courts. He represented clients in a broad range of matters including cases involving insurance coverage, asbestos, securities law, trade dress, employee raiding, and aircraft manufacturer warranties. He was previously a partner at a leading New York law firm where he represented clients in civil and crimination litigation matters involving securities fraud, construction delay, Superfund site cleanup, antitrust and alternative energy.

After graduating law school, Judge Greenberg was an Assistant District Attorney at the New York County District Attorney’s Office, serving under Robert M. Morgenthau in the Trial Bureau, Appeals Bureau, and Special Projects Bureau.

Judge Greenberg is an Adjunct Professor at Fordham and Cardozo Law Schools, where he teaches classes in Constitutional Criminal Procedure, New York Civil Practice, and New York Evidence. He is the author of two law school textbooks.

At Anderson Kill, Judge Greenberg will focus not only on building a practice in commercial litigation, white collar defense and investigations, but also on training the firm’s associates. His extensive experience on the bench will offer young attorneys a rare window into what matters most to judges, and his many years of teaching law school have honed his communication skills.

Robert M. Horkovich, Anderson Kill’s managing shareholdercommented, “As a former prosecutor, successful litigator, and veteran justice and judge in the New York courts, Ethan has a deep 360-degree perspective on both litigation and criminal defense. He will deepen our capabilities on both fronts, not least by imparting the benefit of his experience to our young attorneys – indeed, to all of us.”
