Jorge R. Aviles Joins Anderson Kill’s Insurance Recovery Practice in D.C. as a Shareholder

Anderson Kill is pleased to announce that Jorge R. Aviles has joined the firm as a shareholder in its Washington, D.C. office.  Jorge returns to Anderson Kill, where he was an associate from 2015 to 2020, after continuing to practice in insurance recovery at an international law firm.

Rhonda D. Orin, managing shareholder of Anderson Kill’s Washington, D.C. office, said, “We have long known Jorge as a highly effective, creative advocate for policyholders, and we’re thrilled to welcome him back to Anderson Kill. He adds bench strength to our D.C. practice, as well as new capabilities in cross-border, transactional and trade credit risk.”

Jorge’s practice concentrates on complex insurance recovery disputes on behalf of policyholders, including coverage matters arising from cross-border risks and international transactions. He also counsels clients on risk management and insurance recovery strategy. He has briefed and handled claims involving trade credit, CGL, D&O, E&O, property, and cyber policies, among many others.

Jorge has helped clients secure millions in insurance coverage following high-stakes claims involving a wide variety of losses. He represents commercial and governmental policyholders in all types of sophisticated insurance matters throughout all stages of the insurance process, from pre-purchase policy analysis and review through litigation, mediation, arbitration and settlement of contested claims.

Jorge has been recognized by The Legal 500 2025 as a Leader in Insurance: Advice to Policyholders; as one of Best Lawyer’s Ones to Watch since 2024;  and by Business Insurance as a Break Out Award winner in 2022. He is also a Fellow of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity and a graduate of the DC Bar John Payton Leadership Academy.

Jorge has published widely on insurance topics in legal and trade publications, including, most recently, Risk ManagementThe Export Practitioner, and Washington Tariff & Trade Letter.  He also lectures extensively on insurance coverage issues.

Jorge is fluent in Spanish and conversational in Portuguese. He holds a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, where he was Associate Editor of the Journal of Corporate & Financial Law, and a B.A. from Harvard University.
