A western Pennsylvania bitcoin mining venture won a temporary restraining order in Delaware's Court of Chancery Thursday in a ruling that barred a hosting company from continuing to use or block access to more than 20,000 mining systems that had been installed for the tenant operation.

Vice Chancellor Morgan T. Zurn issued the order pending a preliminary injunction hearing on claims by Consensus Colocation PA LLC and Stone Ridge Ventures II that Mawson Hosting LLC shut the owner and operators out of a converted steel mill in Midland, Pennsylvania, in a purported dispute over a $17,000 interest fee and tenant intentions to relocate.

The order also barred restrictions on Consensus' access to the Midland site to operate or maintain machines and barred Mawson from "electronically accessing or otherwise controlling" the machines.

"We're pleased with the ruling. The court put an end to the enormous and accumulating harm Mawson has caused," said Douglas S. Curran of Anderson Kill PC, representing Consensus and Stone Ridge. "Now we're headed to arbitration to recoup Consensus' losses and recover punitive damages for the misconduct."
