Hon. Louis L. Nock (Ret.) is a Shareholder in Anderson Kill’s New York office and enjoys 34 years of state, federal, and arbitral legal experience – the past 11 of which as an elected and re-elected judge of the State of New York, including his appointment to the Supreme Court of the State of New York. Justice Nock represents clients from a wide range of industries, including: real estate investment, development, construction, and building maintenance; finance; healthcare and health sector manufacturing and distribution; digital media and content; restaurant and hospitality; screen entertainment; wholesale packaging; and the not-for-profit sector. Justice Nock is also an active member of the firm’s Digital Assets and Blockchain Technology practice group, providing vital regulatory and litigation legal support to investors and entrepreneurs within this rapidly expanding economic sector.
Prior to joining Anderson Kill, Justice Nock was the presiding justice of Part 38 of the Supreme Court of the State of New York in Manhattan, handling all manner of commercial and corporate litigation, and involving expertise in substantive, regulatory, and transactional aspects underlying such litigation. Prior to his appointment to Supreme Court, Justice Nock served as a Civil Court judge in Manhattan and Brooklyn and as a Criminal Court judge in Manhattan.
In recent years, Justice Nock has enjoyed the distinction of being a leader in Supreme Court, New York County, in promoting, overseeing, fostering, and achieving settlements of cases; so much so, that he was hand-selected by the New York County Administrative Judge to lecture to the Mediation Clinic at Columbia University Law School regarding Alternative Dispute Resolution methodology. Justice Nock is a member of, and key contact for, the firm’s Alternative Dispute Resolution practice, and serves as a highly effective Mediator and Arbitrator across all areas of law, including commercial, matrimonial/family, and personal injury dispute resolution.
Before joining the judiciary, Justice Nock served as the Chief New York Practice Advisor for an international law firm based in Manhattan and Washington, D.C., and was also substantively engaged at that firm in commercial, corporate, and general civil litigation in the state and federal courts of New York and New Jersey and in arbitration tribunals, and was also the editor of that firm’s False Claims Act newsletter. He began his legal career as a commercial and corporate litigator at another international law firm based in Manhattan; and was, at a later date, an associate of the late U.S. District Judge William H. Pauley III, S.D.N.Y. Justice Nock went on to become a partner at a Manhattan law firm.
During the course of his career as a lawyer, Justice Nock served as the Principal Law Clerk to the Hon. Herman Cahn, Justice of the Supreme Court of the State of New York, County of New York, Commercial Division, and as a law school student, served as a law clerk for the Hon. Nina Gershon, then-U.S. Magistrate Judge, S.D.N.Y.

Hon. Louis L. Nock (Ret.) is a Shareholder in Anderson Kill’s New York office and enjoys 34 years of state, federal, and arbitral legal experience – the past 11 of which as an elected and re-elected judge of the State of New York, including his appointment to the Supreme Court of the State of New York. Justice Nock represents clients from a wide range of industries, including: real estate investment, development, construction, and building maintenance; finance; healthcare and health sector manufacturing and distribution; digital media and content; restaurant and hospitality; screen entertainment; wholesale packaging; and the not-for-profit sector. Justice Nock is also an active member of the firm’s Digital Assets and Blockchain Technology practice group, providing vital regulatory and litigation legal support to investors and entrepreneurs within this rapidly expanding economic sector.
Prior to joining Anderson Kill, Justice Nock was the presiding justice of Part 38 of the Supreme Court of the State of New York in Manhattan, handling all manner of commercial and corporate litigation, and involving expertise in substantive, regulatory, and transactional aspects underlying such litigation. Prior to his appointment to Supreme Court, Justice Nock served as a Civil Court judge in Manhattan and Brooklyn and as a Criminal Court judge in Manhattan.
In recent years, Justice Nock has enjoyed the distinction of being a leader in Supreme Court, New York County, in promoting, overseeing, fostering, and achieving settlements of cases; so much so, that he was hand-selected by the New York County Administrative Judge to lecture to the Mediation Clinic at Columbia University Law School regarding Alternative Dispute Resolution methodology. Justice Nock is a member of, and key contact for, the firm’s Alternative Dispute Resolution practice, and serves as a highly effective Mediator and Arbitrator across all areas of law, including commercial, matrimonial/family, and personal injury dispute resolution.
Before joining the judiciary, Justice Nock served as the Chief New York Practice Advisor for an international law firm based in Manhattan and Washington, D.C., and was also substantively engaged at that firm in commercial, corporate, and general civil litigation in the state and federal courts of New York and New Jersey and in arbitration tribunals, and was also the editor of that firm’s False Claims Act newsletter. He began his legal career as a commercial and corporate litigator at another international law firm based in Manhattan; and was, at a later date, an associate of the late U.S. District Judge William H. Pauley III, S.D.N.Y. Justice Nock went on to become a partner at a Manhattan law firm.
During the course of his career as a lawyer, Justice Nock served as the Principal Law Clerk to the Hon. Herman Cahn, Justice of the Supreme Court of the State of New York, County of New York, Commercial Division, and as a law school student, served as a law clerk for the Hon. Nina Gershon, then-U.S. Magistrate Judge, S.D.N.Y.
