The Trump Indictment Is Far From an Open-and-Shut Case: But its main weaknesses are factual, not legal, and courts won’t object to it as selective prosecution

A Manhattan grand jury has reportedly voted to hand up an indictment of Donald Trump. The charge is expected to involve a “hush money” payment made to the pornographic film performer known as Stormy Daniels.


The prosecution faces several legal hurdles in pursuing such a case against the former president, but those hurdles aren’t the ones that Mr. Trump’s lawyers and supporters have thus far focused on in their public comments.
