Daniel J. Healy is a partner in Anderson Kill's Washington, D.C. office. He started his career with Anderson Kill over 20 years ago, served for five years as a Trial Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice, Tax Division and currently represents policyholders seeking insurance coverage.
Dan co-chairs Anderson Kill's Cyber Insurance Recovery Practice Group and is a member of the firm's Technology, Media and Distributed Systems and COVID Task Groups. Since 2018, Dan has been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America for Insurance Litigation and recognized by Super Lawyers for Insurance Coverage. In 2019, he was selected for inclusion in the American College of Coverage Counsel. While at the Department of Justice, he received numerous Outstanding Attorney awards and served as the E-Discovery Coordinator for the Tax Division.
Dan has tried cases in federal and state courts around the country. He has recovered hundreds of millions of dollars for policyholders under a variety of insurance policies relating to a range of first-party and third-party losses. He has experience obtaining coverage under many different policy types, including BPL, D&O, E&O, CGL, Property and Cyber policies. Dan regularly pursues contractual indemnity claims and additional insured coverage in connection with losses and direct coverage claims.
Dan also litigates all areas of intellectual property. He has represented trademark owners in disputes involving domain names, cybersquatting, online infringement and reverse confusion, has appeared before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and has litigated claims of unfair competition, copyright infringement and patent infringement. He also successfully represented a client against the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
