Anderson Kill is pleased to announce that Neil C. Schur, a litigator with more than twenty-five years of experience in complex commercial disputes, has joined the firm’s Philadelphia office as a shareholder.
Neil concentrates his practice in complex commercial litigation and has litigated cases at the trial court and appellate levels before federal and state courts in several states. He represents clients in matters involving contracts, fraud, antitrust, civil rights, and false advertising, under the Sherman Act, the Robinson-Patman Act, the Lanham Act, and the False Claims Act. He has substantial experience litigating antitrust and unfair competition matters, and is also experienced in counseling clients regarding a variety of antitrust compliance issues.
Neil has substantial experience in franchise litigation, including the representation of franchisors to enforce franchise agreements with franchisees, regional developers and area representatives and to protect the intellectual property of various franchise systems. He has also collaborated with environmental lawyers on complex successor liability issues in multi-million dollar environmental disputes under CERCLA and state environmental laws.
Neil was enrolled in 2010 in the Pro Bono Roll of Honor of the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia) as an attorney whose pro bono work has been recognized by the judiciary as exemplary. He was awarded the MS Leadership Award by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in 2005 for outstanding contributions to the civic, business and cultural betterment of the Greater Delaware Valley area.
Before becoming a lawyer, Neil worked as a reporter for The Philadelphia Inquirer and the Associated Press, and as a teacher for the Houston Independent School District as part of Teach for America, the national corps of recent college graduates who commit two years to teach in urban and rural public schools.
Neil holds a J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law and a B.A. with distinction from the University of Pennsylvania. He also studied at St. Catherine’s College, University of Oxford. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as in U.S. District Courts in both states, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Third and Fourth Circuits, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Lawrence Kill, co-chair of Anderson Kill’s Corporate and Commercial Litigation Group, said, “Neil brings an impressive breadth of experience and success representing clients in commercial litigation and antitrust, false advertising, and environmental litigation at both the trial court and appellate levels. He deepens our litigation capabilities on multiple fronts, and we’re delighted to have him aboard.”
