Anderson Kill is pleased to announce that legal news publisher Law360 has named the firm's Insurance Recovery Group a 2013 Insurance Group of the Year.

In a profile of the Insurance Recovery Group, Law360 noted:

The firm, joining the list for the second year in a row, focuses its insurance practice on insurance recovery for policyholders, with about 65 attorneys dedicated solely to the practice, likely making it the largest insurance recovery group in the world — something the firm is very proud of, group co-chair Robert M. Horkovich told Law360.

Anderson Kill doesn't take business from insurers, enabling it to pursue "any and all" claims against the industry on behalf of policyholder clients, unburdened by conflicts of interest that often occur in larger firms, according to the co-chair.

"This is what we do — we go after the insurance industry, we eschew representation of the insurance industry," Horkovich said. "We're able to represent clients zealously in pushing the envelope against the insurance industry, which larger firms ... can't do."

Anderson Kill also maintains database of thousands of documents encompassing its previous work, legal decisions, data from and related to the insurance industry and depositions from cases — a collection which grows each year — putting it on strong footing at the start of every case, according to the co-chair.

The Insurance Group of the Year award follows on the heels of Law360's designation of Insurance Recovery Group co-chair William G. Passannante as a 2013 Insurance MVP, citing court victories on in coverage disputes concerning asbestos, D&O and wrongful imprisonment claims.  Robert Horkovich, Anderson Kill’s managing shareholder, was named an Insurance MVP in 2012.
