James A. Goodridge is an attorney in Anderson Kill's New York office.  He focuses his practice on commercial litigation and insurance recovery, and regularly counsels corporate policyholders in coverage disputes in state and federal court.  James’ experience includes helping asset management firms pursue defense costs, assisting manufacturers in recovering investigation and remediation expenses, and advising retailers and hoteliers regarding coverage related to multidistrict litigation.  James also routinely represents contractors and developers regarding first-party property losses and third-party liability claims arising from construction-related disputes. James has helped secure hundreds of millions of dollars in recoveries for corporate clients.

Formerly, James was a Summer Law Clerk at Anderson Kill, a Judicial Extern for the Honorable Stewart D. Aaron of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, and a Judicial Intern for the Honorable Leonard Livote of the New York State Supreme Court, Commercial Division.

During law school, James was an Article and Notes editor on the American Bankruptcy Institute Law Review, a contributor on the Labor Relations & Employment Law Society, and a member of the Black Law Students Association.  James also competed on the Moot Court Honor Society, where he won several awards for oral argument and brief writing at various inter- and intra-school competitions, and ultimately received the Center for Trial and Appellate Advocacy Award for Excellence in Moot Court.  James also served as a Teaching Assistant with the Ronald H. Brown Law School Preparatory Program for College Students, and student-taught a “street-law” course at a public high school in Queens. James received the Dean's Award for Excellence in Legal Writing II and was a member of the Dean's Advisory Council on Diversity and Inclusion.

James has experience volunteering with Winter Special Olympics, Harlem Children's Zone, the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition, and the Onondaga Public Library.
